TSR Welcomes Lynne Roberts

The Steam Room Welcomes Lynne Roberts!

TSR: Tell us about Hooking Up.

Lynne: Hooking Up is one of those stories that’s not as traditional in the romance--especially the erotic romance-- industry. Fortunately my editor fell in love with it too. She sent it to the big boss and soon after I got the acceptance email! It’s one of those stories that leaves you smiling.

TSR: Tell us about your recent release, Creative License.

Lynne: When I wrote Creative License, I decided to step outside my comfort zones. LOL All of them! I didn’t play it safe with the characters, the setting or especially the sex scenes. Because of that, and many more reasons, this story will always have a special place in my heart.

TSR: What draws you to a hero/heroine?

Lynne: Flaws. I had to think about this one for a while, but ultimately, it comes down to believability. I love a character who conquers or learns to deal with his or her shortcomings. Perfect characters are boring.

TSR: How do you develop your characters?

Lynne: Honestly, I’m such a panster, they kind of develop themselves. Usually the characters come before the story. With Creative License, I decided to make the perfect hero (see above answer) and from the feedback I’ve received so far, I’m not theonly one who thinks so. ;) That left me molding Lily’s character to challenge, intrigue, and mesh with Caleb’s. She was a bit more difficult to nail down. I didn’t even like her in the first two drafts. In Hooking Up, the hero is a writer and I thought it would be interesting to play with that a bit. However, I really identify with Trisha, and I think most women will too.  LOL I know that doesn’t really answer the question. It’s different with every character!

TSR: What was your most memorable vacation?

Lynne: The next one. ; ) I’m planning to go to the coast with my awesome boyfriend.  But if I had to pick one I’ve already experienced, I guess visiting my sister in Italy.  It really struck me how young our country is. I mean there are ruins everywhere that are over a thousand years old. And I’m not ashamed to admit I cried when I saw the Sistine Chapel.

TSR: What’s something about you that surprises people?

Lynne: Recently someone said they were surprised that I was so quiet in person. They thought a writer would be a bit more social.  LOL I’m sure some writers are… but not me. Let’s see… I’m a foodie. I love to cook and bake and I’m pretty good at it. I’m also a bit conservative.

TSR: What’s next for you?

Lynne: I’m currently working on a short called Oral Fixation. I also have a novella with a beta reader. I’m hoping to get them both subbed before the start of summer.

Giveaway Alert:  To celebrate these releases, I’d like to offer a$5 Samhain gift certificate for one lucky commenter on the blog! Winner will be chosen March 31st.

Wow Lynne,

It's amazing you got to go to Italy. I've wanted to go. They say it's so beautiful there. I know the history part of that country would keep me interested.
I probably wouldn't want to leave the Chapel.

Congrats on your new book and what a wonderful interview.

Good interview. Many authors are quiet until you get to know them. One of my sisters lived in Italy while her husband was working there. She said you don't know what old is until seeing Italy and knowing some of things you see are thousands of years old. She also said no matter what you bought at a bakery was good--even if you didn't know what it was.

Hi Michele!

Thank you again for having me in the steam room! I love the way my covers look against this awesome background! : ) I'll be around all day to answer any questions. ; ) And I'm curious. I'd like to know from your readers, if you're a writer, are you quieter than people expect? For readers, do you have a preconceived idea what writers are like socially?

Hi Sheila! Your sister is right. Even the air feels old. ; ) One of my sisters told me she wished I could bring her a bottle of Italian air. I happened to be in Rome at the time. I laughed... Um... a lot of people urinate on the sidewalks there, the air smelled, well, not pleasant most the time.

Hi Teresa!

I didn't want to leave the chapel either. I could have stayed for hours. There were a lot of people there. Literally elbow to elbow . So they kinda encouraged you to move along. I'd love to see the Pieta next time. It was Easter weekend and we couldn't get close to the Vatican. Thank you! The credit for the interview goes to Michele. ; )

Thank you for the interview, and sharing a bit of yourself with us.
I so enjoy reading about authors writing experience, and how their plot and characters are created.
I too would love to travel through Europe, and especially Italy & Spain.

Again, thank you!

Darcy

Lost my internet connection, and didn;t get to ask my question....*S*
Here we go:

What's your most favorite thing to cook or bake in the kitchen? Or rather the most favorite to eat too...*S*

I probably homemade cook all the time as it's just been a habit for years. It has just gotten quicker and simpler over time.

Hi Darcy

My favorite things to cook or bake are the recipes that I've tweaked so much they've become mine. I also love to bake things I know will disappear quickly so I don't have time to eat them. ; )
My banana bread falls in both those categories. As soon as I take it out of the oven, my kids are hovering around waiting for that first cut. Another is my chocolate chip cookies. I have to set some aside or they're gone as fast as I can pull them out of the oven. I also love cooking Italian and now Mexican dishes. I recently made homemade refried beans and I'll never eat them from the can again! My boyfriend says my orange rice is off the hook too. ;)

Thank you so much for your question and comment!
